Full session

  1. 1. Warm-up (15 min) Full ladder to a flash-level problem, one light pump, complete recovery.
  2. 2. Build 2-3 links Each link = 2 problems near your flash level climbed back-to-back, downclimbing easy holds between them instead of jumping off (the downclimb is the interval's connective tissue). Total 15-25 hand moves per link.
  3. 3. The work — 6-8 link reps Climb a link at full quality, rest 3-4 min sitting, repeat, rotating through your links. The final rep should end at RPE 9 with technique intact — pumped but precise.
  4. 4. Composure standard The rep counts only if movement stays sharp under pump: feet quiet, hips in, no panicked slapping. When precision collapses, stop the block — sloppy reps train sloppiness exactly when it costs most.
  5. 5. Stop rule + scheduling Failing the same link twice = done. Sharp pain = instant stop. 1×/week max, well away from limit-bouldering days.
