- 1. Warm-up (12 min) Pulse-raiser, hip circles and deep squats, 2 easy routes or moderate traverse.
- 2. Twist-lock drill — 3 easy overhanging climbs On every long reach: turn the hip of the reaching side INTO the wall (outside edge on the foothold) and reach along the wall, not away from it. Exaggerate it — feel how much lighter your arms get.
- 3. Drop-knee hunt — 2-3 climbs Find at least two drop-knee positions per climb (inside knee rotated down between opposing feet). Sink into each one until an arm can fully straighten or release to shake.
- 4. Rest-position inventory — 1-2 climbs Climb an easy steep route stopping at EVERY possible rest: straight-arm hangs, hip-in stems, heel hooks that unload arms. Rate each one — you're building the vocabulary that turns pumpy routes into a series of short cruxes.
- 5. Keep it sub-maximal Everything 2+ grades below your best. Position skills learned tired are learned wrong.
