Crimpd alternative

A Crimpd alternative that connects training to your climbing

Crimpd is a workout library. RoxClimbs is what happens after the workout: the sends, the projects, the goals, and a weekly review that checks the plan against what you actually did.

Free. Your data is yours: export or delete anytime.

The short version

Crimpd has a big, well-made exercise catalogue, and its plan builder sits behind Crimpd+ at $59.99 a year. RoxClimbs starts from the other end: your climbing. The logbook is the engine, and the calendar, custom cards, goals, projects and weekly review all run off it, free. If you want a training app that knows what you actually climb, start here.

The logbook is the engine.

Connect theCrag and your ascents sync automatically. Log gym sessions by grade in seconds. Attempts build projects on their own, sends move your goals, and every climb lands in one history with pyramids, progression and personal bests.

The plan meets the week.

Schedule cards on the calendar, mark them done, and the weekly review puts planned against done, next to what you climbed. You see in one place whether the plan happened and what it changed. In Crimpd, building your own plan is the paid feature. Here the calendar, the review and your own custom cards are simply how the app works.

Training you can see working.

Once your logbook holds about 25 climbs, the Performance view opens: what you could likely flash today, a projected redpoint, and five signals showing how your climbing is built. The weekly coach review connects the training to the climbing in plain language. Bring your own Claude API key and it becomes a personal coach you can chat with, answering from your own data.

Your own cards, not just presets.

Every library card cites the coach or researcher it comes from, with the full session and stop rule. Write your own cards, or duplicate a library card and tweak it. Your cards schedule, complete and share like any other.

Which should you pick?

Pick the tool that fits your climbing.

Pick Crimpd if:

you mainly want a big exercise catalogue in a native app.

Pick RoxClimbs if:

you want the training connected to your logbook, goals and projects, with a weekly review that reads all of it, free.

Switching is not starting over.

Your climbing history can come with you.

There is no automatic Crimpd import, and we will not pretend otherwise. But your training history is not the valuable part, your climbing is. Connect theCrag, upload Mountain Project ticks, or bring a spreadsheet, and your logbook arrives with its history. The training loop starts fresh this week, which is exactly where training loops start anyway.

FAQ

Questions climbers ask

Is RoxClimbs really free?

Yes, free. No card, no trial clock. The calendar, custom cards, weekly review and performance analysis are not premium features, they are the app. If that ever changes, existing users will hear it from us first.

Can I import my Crimpd history?

No, there is no Crimpd importer. Your climbing history imports from theCrag, Mountain Project or a spreadsheet; training starts fresh.

Is there a phone app?

RoxClimbs runs in any browser and installs to your phone's home screen from there. No store account needed.

I only climb in the gym. Is this for me?

Yes. Indoor logging is session-based and grade-first, no route names needed, with its own pyramid kept separate from outdoor.
